With so many different photographers with all kinds of editing styles & shooting styles it can be hard to narrow down to what you want! Here are some tips to help you determine what style you gravitate towards!

  1. Make a folder or Pinterest board and save all of the wedding photos you see and love.
  2. Go through that list and take note of what common themes you see throughout the photos. Warm or cool? True to life editing or filmy look? How are the images captured? Etc.
  3. Keep these themes in mind as you search for photographers to inquire with. Once you inquire you can even ask them how they would define their style and how they approach shooting a wedding day.

Budget:

There is a photographer for every style and every budget and it is all about finding the one that meets both of those needs for you. Below is a list of some questions to ask yourself when determining your wedding budget and specifically your photography budget. Your wedding photos are such an important investment, they are what you will be holding onto for a lifetime to remember and share your day by!

  • How important is photography to you?
  • How much of your budget are you willing to give towards booking a photographer?
  • What is your photography budget limit and is their anything you would be willing to sacrifice for the photographer of your dreams?

Experience:

What are some ways you can tell if your are booking a good photographer for your budget and needs?   • What kind of gear are they shooting with and do they appear to have knowledge on shooting, framing, etc?
  • Look through their portfolio, do they have experience in capturing different lightings well?
  • Do they shoot weddings in a similar style to yours?
  • What is their backup process like? Are they doing all they can to protect your images?
  • What are the testimonials they share saying about them?
  • Are they easy to inquire and converse with?

There is so much that goes into searching for the perfect photographer for you and it can be easy to feel overwhelmed!
